What Members Thought
This book had so much potential, the problem was there was so much of it. Kostova actually writes beautifully, and the idea of Dracula still alive for hundreds of years was interesting. However she went into such detail, made you go through every historical document she could find, and then ended so anti-climatically that it ruined things. Unfortunately by the end, it didn't really care what happened, I just wanted it to be over.

Well-researched...I really enjoyed reading this one. Not too long after finishing it, I visited Eastern Europe, and I believe I visited the island with the old church described in the novel...
Too long and erudite for the beach read audience, but not written well enough for the literary audience.
I started it, it is very good...I put it down and someday will get back to it.
It took a little while to get into the story but once I did it was great.
Best vampire novel ever, IMO.
