What Members Thought
I started reading this last night, and couldn't put it down for the first 300 or so pages. It was fast-paced and engaging. The mystery was intriguing, the villain was sinister, and the plot was complex. However, when I picked The Lost Symbol back up again this afternoon to finish it, I was less satisfied by the falling action and resolution of the book. I wasn't all that excited about the publication of The Lost Symbol, wasn't going to bother to read it, but ended up with a copy pretty cheaply. The bad guy seemed to be a retread of the Albino from The DaVinci Code with better verbal skills, and one of the big "ooh wows" was so transparent I had it nailed down before the first third of the book had passed. Hopefully I will remember this when the next hugely-touted Dan Brown novel is published.

I find Dan Brown Books to be similar to Indiana Jones movies... non stop action, much of it unrealistic, caged in some accuracy but with plenty of unprovable assertions. I was entertained by Lost Symbol. I learned a couple of very interesting facts and hope to make a trip to Washington DC to see some of the landmarks referenced in light of the new things mentioned about them.
