This is a strange, but touching commentary on the fruitlessness of war and the ability to survive and persevere. The story has a basis in WWII, but otherwise could be a timeless tale, a story of refugees who are fleeing the death and destruction of man.
Our girls' local library book club selected this book for their June discussion. It was one that came highly recommended, but I'd never heard of it before.
