This is the first book in the Pure Dead series by Debi Gliori. It's an entertaining, somewhat gruesome tale that introduces the reader to the Italian Strega-Borgia family, living in the Germanic StregaSchloss castle in the highlands of Scotland. The family even has a frozen dead ancester and some very unusual pets.
