We listened to Barbara Caruso narrate this tale on audio CD (with ISBN13 9780788795244), while we followed along with this hardcover copy of the book.
I really wasn't sure what to think at first. Marilla seems so stern and Anne so flighty. But the story really grew on me and we looked forward to listening to the story each night.
The story harkens back to a much older time, but it still retains so much of the charm that you can imagine what life was like. We really enjoyed reading this book toge ...more

I read this book while I was traveling in Ireland and Scotland. It was really an impulse buy at a local Irish bookshop. I read it as a child and I don't think it ever spoke to me until my most recent read. I've been in a funk for a while now but this book, along with traveling, really brought me back to loving life. Such a good book. highly recommend reading it as an adult!

Had to revisit this once I saw that Rachel McAdams had done the Audible version :) Another good thing about audiobooks- I'm actually revisiting books I read over a decade ago and enjoying them again without feeling like it's a waste of time bc it doesn't take four days, usually, with an audiobook!
It was nice to go back to Green Gables, again.

I revisited this book with the idea of recommending it to my daughter, and quite enjoyed it! As I told my little one, Anne reminds me a lot of her - she talks alot and has a great imagination! What a delightful character! I really enjoyed this novel, and will definitely be purchasing it for my children to read.
I would have loved this book if I'd read it as a girl, but historic fiction about girls in dresses was never really my jam. As an adult, Anne just got on my nerves.
