I picked this story on audio CD, read by Liza Ross, up at our local library, but as we got ready to read it, I realized that it was an 'abridged' version and I was quite disappointed. I wanted our girls to hear the whole story.

Fabulous book - I read this book several times growing up and just loved it. It was one of my absolute favorites. I loved the New England setting and I imagined what it was like to live during the Civil War.
I haven't read the classic story to our girls yet, but I have read an adapted version by Mary Sebag-Montefiore. It was a shorter version with lots of illustrations that captures the essence of the tale, but not its charm. I am still looking forward to reading Louisa May Alcott's classic to th ...more

Still just as enjoyable as when I first read it at age 9 - only I do not hate Amy anymore & wow, Jo truly didn’t love Laurie - how did I miss that? 🤷🏼♀️ dense 9 year old I suppose
