This is probably the best book I've ever read. It provides an amazing insight into the political and religious conflicts in Afghanistan, and really highlights the plight of women in a real way. Not only is a beautifully written tale of friendship, but it's an amazing and eye-opening read.

Loved it - hated it - cried over it - wanted to kill over it

Let's face it, a book about women in Afghanistan is not going to be a happy, fun read. Engrossing, well-written, clever plot-twists, but do not read if you're fighting a Depression.
