For some reason, I never read this book in school. I picked it up to better understand my Step-Son's book report/presentation, and I'm so glad I did. This is a wonderful book, and perfect for developing a sense of the world and our history for Tween readers.

This is a touching tale about the terrible toll of war on innocent people and the valiant efforts that the Danish people made to save the Jews among them during the Holocaust. The story is a fast read and the story is very dramatic.
It's just one family's tale, but it is representative of the experiences of the entire country. Overall, I thought it was well-written and appropriate for older elementary school-age children and up.
