This is an original and unusual story told by an autistic (not Asperger but more severely disabled) boy using his exceptional gifts of math, science, and memory to solve the crime after somebody kills the neighbor lady's dog, while simultaneously trying to navigate a world in which the adults who care for him prove inadequate in their efforts to provide him with the secure routine he needs to maintain control. NOT A REVIEW (Elana Starr)

Possibly one of the stranger books that I have read. The author, Mark Haddon, has remarkable insight into the workings of the Autistic/Asperger's spectrum mind. This book was really, um, different. Eccentric. Kinda weird. About a 15-year-old autistic boy (or a savant? He has an amazing ability with numbers and memorization) who lives with his dad. The neighborhood dog is killed and the boy tries to solve the mystery of "who done it."
Easy, quick read but not so sure I'd recommend it. ...more
