Erdrich is always a joy to read. Her skill at weaving Indian mythology into her novels enriches and informs. Set in Hoopdance, North Dakota, the Round House focuses on 13 year old Joe's coming -of- age on the Ojibwa reservation in the aftermath of his mother’s brutal rape. Filled with memorable characters, Erdrich's national book award winning novel is highly recommended.
