If you’re in the mood for a young adult novel that breaks the mold when it comes contemporaries dealing with sick characters, this is one to pick up. The characters in this story aren’t exactly likeable but they’re not supposed to be. There’s a lot of humor within this book, which may be surprising considering Rachel is dying of cancer. But, like I said, it breaks the mold. This novel does a lot of different things in terms of style. It has bullet points, parts that read like a play, etc. I loved that this book took such a realistic route with the sick character. This book is not all sunshine and rainbows, but it’s definitely worth the read if you’re a fan of YA contemporary.
