Inventive and gruesome this will thrill fans of noir detective novels and horror both. Unsworth's vision of hell is nightmarish, but also a little wry. Recommended. ...more

The Devil's Detective, by Simon Kurt Unsworth

Unsworth novel is set in the bowels of Hell where the protagonist Thomas Fool, holds the job of Information Man, charged with investigating all the violence that goes on in Hell. There is a lot of crime in Hell, as one might imagine and it's pretty horrific. This dark mystery will keep readers turning the pages long past bedtime. This is not a book for the squeamish. Recommended for mystery & horro fans who enjoy a dark, bleak, & unusual setting
