Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Strout is at the top of her game with this bittersweet novel of a woman exploring her life and relationships during an extended stay in the hospital.

Lucy Barton writes of her mothers' visit during a long hospital convalescence. Reflecting back on her poverty stricken childhood, the abuse, and the constant cold and hunger, Lucy weaves the delicate fabric of family life into her story.
Highly recommended.
