I have no idea what the hell this book is about, but I can tell you I enjoyed it greatly. Pair it with red wine, some Didion, or better yet, Sleepless Nights.

The unconventional style of this novel--short, seemingly unconnected vignettes--seems initially off-putting, but its readability and edgy viewpoint pulled me in from page one. Those vignettes are biting observations, some humorous, some just trenchant comments, or snips of subway or party conversation, presented one after the other, without commentary.
Taken on the whole, its a sharply observed vision of modern life.
