This is the first book I have ever read about science.This is one of the best selling book of the century.I have found it really infomative and my interest in science seems to build. This book is free from mathematical equations (except E=mc2) which is the best thing about the book. This book is so simple that even a lay person with basic knowledge of science can understand it.

Literally - A Brief History of Time!! This is the primer you need to read before you read any of the other physics/astro books out there. This will give you all the ground rules without going down to many strange or hypothetical paths. This book can make you want to major in Astrophysics or Cosmology!

I found this book hard going but still enjoyable
i read it twice and it’s really helpful, though it may not be clear for people who don’t know much about physics.
