"Why Evolution Is True" is a good introduction to the topic of evolution. I didn't have a lot of foreknowledge about the subject before reading the book. It's difficult to write about the subject of evolution without using a lot of technical, scientific terms, but I found the content of this book very assessable and fairly easy to follow.

This book is a well-structured argument that the process of evolution has occurred and does occur. The author has a remarkably humble tone as he describes both the assertive truth of evolution as well as the ongoing process of unfinished learning of science (e.g., the study of biogenesis, the beginning of the universe, evolutionary psychology, evolution's inability to stand alone as an ethical/moral system, etc.). I believe that this book was well worth the time to read.

But alas, in a nation with compulsory education that still lugs around a staggering 46% of adults who believe that a bronze-age war-god created the world sometime in the past 10,000 years, this book is absolutely timely and necessary.
And it's so *good*. I think that it's better than Dawkins' Greatest Show on Earth, actually. ...more
