I'd been meaning to read this book for some time and finally got around to it and I have to say that I'm pretty much impressed, particularly with how the subject of young-Earth creationism is dealt with. I know that this in particular is Dawkins' forté, being a biologist, but he seems to be no slouch when it comes to dealing with arguments that spill over into the political and social arenas as well. Really well-written, extremely clever and at times bitingly funny and sarcastic. This book has pretty strong arguments and looks at the theistic world view through the practical, the historical and the scripture bases. Well drawn out arguments and rebuttals make this one of the defining statements for atheism.

Not in the least because Richard Dawkins, that man knows his shit. It's great to watch him blaze through theist arguments and rip them apart. You know with what? THAT'S RIGHT, WITH SCIENCE.

While not as good, in my opinion, as 'End of Faith' or 'God is not Great', it was well worth reading. Richard Dawkins gets a lot of shit for being arrogant, but if you had his brain and spent the amount of time defending your ideas to some of the people he has to, I suspect you would be a bit arrogant as well. ...more
