So I finished it and I didn't hate it but am saddened that I did not love it. So many people whom I respect love this novel so I'm a little ashamed of myself. I did so want to be on Team Vonnegut and can definitely understand why people love him. I do appreciate many things about his writing - how concise and fast paced his work is, it's sheer brilliance. His characters and plots are fascinating and he really does write some quotable lines/paragraphs; in fact, just yesterday I quoted a paragraph

It kept reminding me of Kalki, by Gore Vidal, which I know was written AFTER Cat's Cradle but is still a superior book. Maybe I picked the wrong week to give up amphetamines...
