I was stuck to Life of Pi, day and night for about four days till I finished it and then I read it again. I'm pretty sure all the lit students out there will find several complex ways to describe Martel's writing and sentiment, but I'll just say this: The book comes very close to magic.

I know this is a hugely popular book, and was highly recommended by many friends, but somehow it failed to grab me. Perhaps it's the skeptic in me - couldn't quite connect with the "spiritual" tone. Never even managed to finish reading it! ...more

OK, I technically couldn't finish this one. It just didn't hold my attention. I got bored. I found myself not caring about getting back to it night after night. That's not a good sign. I have too many books I want to read so if I just can't get into one...I'm just not going to bother. I did read a lot of reviews on this one and came to terms that in the end I don't think it would be my kind of book anyway. The first 80 pages were just OK. ...more
