Yan Martel’s book, Life of Pi, is a good read: interesting, imaginative and cohesive. The book is interesting because of the seemingly painstaking research he did in writing about life as a castaway. This is the worst book I have ever read. I wish I could give it zero stars because that is what it deserves. I would never recommend this book to anyone, in fact, I would tell them to stay far away from it and spend their time reading a good book.

This is a particularly odd and imaginative story. I'm not so sure I agree with all the hype it got, but it was intriguing enough. Pi is the son of a zookeeper in India. Pi actively seeks out and tries on for size a variety of other faiths (an amusing and intriguing idea). I think this book can be VERY SLOW... but dammit if the last few pages don't make it a worthwhile read.
