Sam Irby puts what everyone else is thinking (or hiding) into writing, and makes it 10x funnier. If you’re looking for razor sharp observations, self-deprecation done really, really well, scatological horrors and utterly bawdy anecdotes, look no further.

This is the first book of Samantha Irby’s that I’ve read and I can’t wait to read more! I laughed out loud so many times and also felt moved to tears. She speaks with uncensored honesty about being black, struggling with depression and body image, growing up in poverty, falling in love, working at a veterinary clinic (so funny!!) and so much more. There were many moments in this that I wanted to read out loud to a friend just to share the experience. I tend to prefer reading fiction over memoirs ...more

Hilarious, dark, and real! I had to skip one chapter on dieting bc #scary but I need books like this right now. Light-hearted yet deep, and I basically never knew what she would say next in the best kind of way. Shout out to Alli’s aunt who recommended this book!
