What Members Thought
A very personal story of resilience and the power of sibling love. Jeannette Walls and her siblings had somewhat loving but very selfish and often negligent parents. She survived through the bond with two of her three siblings. The story she tells is powerful, honest and heartfelt. Although it was a reread for me, I read it so long ago, it was as if I was reading it for the first time. Walls is a gifted writer who weaves a heartbreaking but beautiful story in this childhood memoir.
I don’t give out 5 stars easily. I had just finished ‘Educated’ by Tara Westover and this book was on my TbR so I decided that while I was feeling traumatised by misery lit I would crack on with ‘The Glass Castle’ and boy am I glad I did. This book is moving, sensitive but also somehow moving and uplifting! I’m going to watch the movie tonight if I can find it!
