I can't express how much I loved The glass Castle!! From the first page of this book, I loved the way Jeanette Walls wrote! Her life as a child seemed to jump off the pages and my heart hurt for her. In some ways I can see how her "adventures" growing up were fun, but I also see how hard life really must've been! I'm curious as to how her family is doing now. It's amazing to see how her family stuck together in the worst conditions and they made it out okay. ...more

This book was interesting and sad and not something that I will probably reread. Reading her life story made me appreciate many things in my own life and it broke my heart to imagine kids living the way they did. I don't normally read memoirs but this book was picked by friends and family to read for 2016. It's a true story about the author. It was heartbreaking to read. Her parents treated her so badly but she still managed to have a successful life. Some of the stories were so outrageous I found myself saying really that happened. Now, I want to read her other book about her grandmother.

I feel weird rating or criticizing someone’s memoir/life story, so just know that I really enjoyed this.
The way she told her story was very engaging and it kept me interested. I did think it was a tad hard to believe that she would have such early childhood memories, but who am I to really judge that?
I would recommend this if you’re looking for some good non-fiction and if you enjoy a well-told story.

So many thoughts on this book, the resiliency of the author and her siblings throughout their young life is remarkable. How they made it through a childhood like they experienced unbelievable!
