I read this book as part of a month-long readathon project, #middlegrademarch.
Nan is a young girl who happens to be a chimney sweep during Victorian London. Her "monster" was just as much a main character as Nan herself. Their relationship was quite lovely and emotional. The narrative was very atmospheric and pulled me in from the very first page. I could vividly see Nan jumping from rooftop to rooftop.

streaming tears down my face. This story is immaculate. Charlie, Nan, Toby, and the Sweep have stolen my heart. Please read this book!!
My favorite part was when man taught Charles to read!
