This book is classified as Middle Grade Fantasy but in my opinion this book does not fit easily into any classification. This book is part fantasy, part historical fiction, part folklore and reaches across all generations with the timeless message of "You save yourself by saving others".

Such a cute story. I was surprised to love a middle grade so much. It was beautifully written and will stick with me for awhile. It was interesting that it was full of historical facts with a dash of fantasy. After reading I wanted to read more on how they used children as Chimney Sweeps and also Victorian London. Great book!

4.5? I didn’t love everything here, but I did enjoy the book very much. I liked the way the book played with the idea of monsters; who is a true monster, what appearances might or might not have to do with it, and how one’s actions make all the difference.
