Kristin Hannah has done it again! This epic novel of the Allbright’s migration to Alaska after Ernt, the father, has returned war torn from Vietnam brings the characters and settings to brilliant life. Though parts of the book were difficult to read, the sweeping story of Ernt’s daughter,Leni, wife, Cora, and their life in Alaska was captivating from start to finish. I was a solid four stars for this one until the end and it quickly bounded to five stars because I would read this again and would

3.5/5 stars.
I tried a different book by Kristin Hannah and kind of hated it, but I was told her newer ones were a little better, so I thought I'd give this one a try.
This book takes place in the 1970's, with a man who returns to his family after being a POW in the Vietnam War. He has PTSD, but his issues are far worse than that. All that being said, I have never found myself so angry at characters before, literally yelling at them. There are some very intense moments of emotional and physical violence that I just had to take a break from a few times before f

I liked the book enough to give it four stars but I liked Kristin Hannah's Night Road much more.
I loved the characters and their descriptions of feelings. Aside from Leni and her mom, all the side characters felt so fleshed out.
The descriptions of the atmosphere, Alaska and the cold was also really good because I felt like I was there.
The reason I gave it four stars was because of the plot, I was becoming a bit tired of reading about the same themes in the middle sections. Also, I felt the end ...more
