[close] Apparently this book meets best bookclub novels across the board, and we are going to find out why in the next two months. We are heading to the Belgian Congo, a place of study for any first year international relations student, and looking through the eyes and storylines of American missionaries setting out as a family. It’ll be interesting to see the development of each character in different timeframes and as each learns and grows from their experiences abroad. It may also prompt us to realize that travelling changes a person, challenges our perceptions, forces us to see how small the world really is, and how connected we are despite real and imagined differences.
