I read this for the January meeting of my book club. In my book club, the members take turns choosing a book, and I was at first disappointed that we would be reading yet another book about the holocaust. However, this book had a different focus -- what took place in France during the German Occupation. I found the book to be inforative on a part of history of which I was not aware, and that is reason enough to read it. There are two stories running. The story of an American ex-pat woman journal

I thoroughly enjoyed this one & pretty sad it took me this long to get around to it. Such a sad story...but it kept me interested. I also like the very last scene...so touching...and tells you a lot. Would recommend!
Hmmm. I really enjoyed the historical aspect of this novel. I, like most people, didn't know about the French police's involvement in rounding up the French Jews & sending them to Auschwitz. But, this story was way too heavy & sad for me. I almost put it down about 5 times b/c it was so hard to read. I didn't necessarily want to know about what happened to these children & babies. gw lebih suka kisah tentang sarah
bagian Julia malah berasa ganggu hahaha.. padahal Julia yang lagi nyelidikin cerita itu, tapi jadinya malah pengen cerita Julia dikit aja..

I, too, learned something I didn't know from this book. It was a quick, easy read and I could hardly wait for the next page to find where the story was going to take me.
