Yet another book I am determined to read through to the end, but I am having a hard time doing so. Every sentence is so dense with facts and the storyline jumps so much over different points and references throughout history that I am having trouble staying focussed. Yet this is the story of 'my peeps' and how 'we' settled New York, only to then give it over to the British and have them stake their full claim of it in common history, so. Found this in a bookstore in Brisbane on my way back from my last deployment and read through it very quickly. A great way to learn about the beginnings of New York City; very ironic and funny in parts. The author Shorto must have really enjoyed researching this book. Adrian van der Donck is certainly a character worthy of more research and study.
