3/12/15 - I just reread this book and loved it as much as the first time!
A young boy and his siblings investigate odd occurences on Long Island in the 1960s.
After a neat setup ( a prowler in the neighborhood ) The Shadow Year is wrapped up in atmosphere for 200 pages before a rushed ending.
The atmosphere is creepy and well-written, but it puts away the mystery and replaces it with an episode of The Wonder Years. A good episode, sure. Bu it makes for a long wait before any plot movement.
That said, I do like Ford's writing enough to check out his other books. ...more
