I think I went into this book not completely realizing what it was about. I think part of my having a hard time was I didn't know what to expect. I thought the majority of the book would be about Ifemelu's life returning to Nigeria but that's really the only last 100 pages. Most of the book deals with Ifemelu and Obinze's immigrant experiences, their romance, and then their return to Nigeria. Also, the book moves between Ifemelu and Obinze POV. I wanted to like this book, and was interested in the beginning. I could not relate to the characters, and did not care about them. The blessing was that my Nook decided not to work and I could not finish this book.
Beautifully written, the most honest novel i have read. Although primarily about race in America or Non American blacks in America it was a beautiful love story. I've really fell in love with Adichie
