This is a hard book to review. I can easily rate this as 1 star, but I can just as easily rate this 5 stars, so I decided to go halfway.

I loved Clark and the fact that Andie didn't know that Doctor Who reference on it offended me personally, but I understood it because not EVERYONE watches the show, but still the fact that she didn't know that TARDIS just surprised me because I feel like most people know the TARDIS. What I really couldn't believe was that she didn't get the Star Wars reference. This is a hard book to review. I can easily rate this as 1 star, but I can just as easily rate this 5 stars, so I decided to go halfway.

What I really couldn't believe was that she didn't get the Star Wars reference. I mean. WHAT?!?! How do you not know these are not the droids you are looking for? HOW?

Not going to lie, that made me like her even less, because, guess what? I DIDN'T LIKE ANDIE! Towards the end, she got better but, oh my gosh! Was she boy crazy. When she was not talking about boys, I liked her fine, but when she did, it made my hatred equivalent to the entire length of the book.

I really liked her dad, however. I guess it wasn't genetic. Towards the beginning of the book his relationship with his daughter was very tense and strained. The conversation in the first chapter was very awkward.

I loved seeing their relationship grow stronger as the book went on and it felt real and not forced.

All of the conversations in this book felt real as a matter of fact. I personally was reminded of how I talk to my friends and how we all interact with one another. I also thought that it was very realistic that Toby and Bri were closer to each other than they were with Palmer and Andie. That is something that is not usually contained in books and it was refreshing to see it in this type of book.

I never knew this about Matson's book, but the fact that all of them take place in the same town and you can see some characters in others was very cool to me and makes me want to go and read her other books even more.

Overall, I had a fun time reading this and all the dogs made this book that much better than it was by itself. The characters all felt different and real which is all you could hoe for from a book with this type of cast of characters, that being said there was a serious lack of diversity. All of the characters were, well, plain white. That's it. Either way the characters were all enjoyable in some way and I loved the friendships that are present in this book.

Looking back on this book after a few days I finished it, I saw a huge problem with it. Throughout the book there are many parties and at all the parties that the main characters are present for, she actively drinks alcohol and for I believe for one of these she gets in a car and drives. Not only is drinking underage a huge problem now-a-days and is a huge risk for those who are present. Not only that, the main characters gets into a car I believe for one of them after having had some alcohol. It doesn't matter how much alcohol you have, YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE AFTER HAVING ANY. And Morgan Matson, never outright says that this is wrong. Not a single character disapproves of this characters actions, this made me seriously consider lowering the rating of this book, but I don't want to lower it based on one flaw of this book. I can only hope that people see this review and realize that you are similar to this pattern to stop. I could be wrong in that Andie doesn't drive after drinking alcohol but that doesn't change the fact that many of these characters are drinking alcohol illegally/ ...more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This book ended up surprising me with how much I enjoyed it. I gave it 3.5 stars and then rounded up to 4. I don't usually read contemporary books and the ones I do read are ones that I'm really interested in. This was my book of the month so I had to read it.

Things I enjoyed about this book:
-I loved the relationship growth between Andie and her father. The way they start off to the way they end is so different and was really heartwarming.

Things I enjoyed about this book:
-I loved the relationship growth between Andie and her father. The way they start off to the way they end is so different and was really heartwarming.
-I loved the friendship between the 4 main girls and I loved all their group texts
-I loved Clark! He was so relatable and was honestly the perfect boyfriend. I loved his quirkiness and his hidden depths that he tries to cover up.
-I also just loved all the dogs!!!!!!
-I also liked Andie a lot in the first 400 pages and in the last 20 pages

Things I didn't love:
-Andie. Notice how her name is on here twice. I really enjoyed her in the majority of the book. She wasn't annoying and was pretty cool and I liked being in her thoughts. Then when all these things go down I can't stand her. She ruined things for herself. If she had just sat down and thought about things she might not have had to try and fix things.
-I didn't love all the drama at the end. It felt like the author realized that she wrote 400 pages of no real drama and then decided she needed some action at the end.
- I also did not like the way things were resolved in the end. I felt like Toby had a lot more to apologize for and when Bri called her out on it they should have dealt with it more. Also then kind of kicking out Bri at the end felt really harsh. Toby had been obsessed with Wyatt and that was weird.
-The book also needed more dogs, but that's also a personal opinion.
-Lastly, my friend mentioned this too and I thought about it a lot it that there is almost no diverse characters in this book. I think Bri is Indian, but even she is not really their friend at the end of the book.

Overall I did like this book even if I found it slightly predictable and longer than it needed to be. It was well written and very enjoyable. Good for a summer read! ...more
