Darcy Coates never, ever, ever disappoints me! And DEAD OF WINTER is no exception to that statement! I'm becoming addicted to her stories of horror and mystery. This particular novel of hers is definitely one of my very favorite books of the year! For fans of closed-room mysteries, this is an absolute must read and should be added to your TBR list immediately. I didn't enjoy this. I should have. It's right up my alley. Murder, mystery, suspense and investigation. I'm not sure if it was the writing or the characters, but I found myself reading and losing track because I wasn't able to focus. My mind wandered, and I would find ten pages had passed and I had no idea what progress had been made.

I'm going to chalk it up to mood.

!!!

hell of a propulsive horror thriller with strong slasher elements. kinda figured out who was responsible midbook but sooooo much other stuff was happening that it truly slipped my mind until near the end and one particular line reminded me. immediately checking out coates' other stuff.
