A fun read with engaging characters and interesting world-building. The comparison to Harry Potter is obvious and not unwarranted, but might gloss over the differences. Potter's world relies on core tropes of the "boarding school novel" genre, where Akata Witch embeds other visions of education. Overall, I found this an enjoyable read - I didn't want to stop and would happily pick up a sequel. ...more
