The first time I read this it was a high three stars. I gave it four for nostalgia's sake. This time it was absolute perfection and I enjoyed it tremendously. The guy sitting next to me at Les Schwab can totally vouch for that.

I might have given this 5 stars, but my only gripe was that I felt like I did not get a true sense of George's character and his and Lucy's connection in Florence. Maybe I missed some small clues that I would pick up on a second reading? In any case, the comedic scenes in the book were great, and I especially enjoyed the return to England and the introduction of Cecil into the mix. I think my favorite scene, though, was of George, Freddy and Mr. Beebe bathing in the pond. But a close se ...more
