Anna Faversham's Under a Dark Star is a beautifully written historical filled with rich characterizations and plenty of action. Once sworn enemies, Karl Thorson and former smuggler Daniel Tynton join together with the help of lovable Parson Raffles to take on the despicable wreckers on the Isle of Wight.

A great book for me can be defined by its ability to immerse the reader in a world of places and characters that the author has created. This is true regardless of genre.
While outside of the genre I normally read, Under a Dark Star, succeeds for me because of Anna Faversham’s seamless writing. Having read the first book in the trilogy I was pleased to find the second book had recently been released. Under a Dark Star is a beautifully written story with a plot that had me believing that I was really there. The intricate detail of the writing draws you in and leaves you in no doubt of the authors knowledge of the subject. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
