Elizabethan England was an incredibly interesting and strange time.![]()
Everything from the clothes to the food to even the structure of the houses was different - B>very different.
There were two small bedrooms in the rear of the house where you shared a bed with your sisters.I can't imagine doing that!
The food, in particular, stood out to me.
Meats were stewed with fruits, making them sweet and savory at the same time.At first, I couldn't believe that that would taste good...but then ...more

Written at approximately the level of the second grade reader, this book is an excellent primer on how life was lived in Elizabethan England. It was a time of great change, through exploration, the rise of a significant merchant class and growing naval power, England rose to the level of a global superpower. Although there were still great gaps between the rich and poor, a new social class was rising, what we now call the middle class.

“If you Were Me and Lived in…Elizabethan England” by Carole P. Roman, takes place in London in the year 1600. This time was called the Elizabethan Age in history because it took place when Elizabeth I was the queen. If you lived in this time, you would have been going through a lot of changes that helped the country to become a superpower. This amazing skillfully written artistic book IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN...ELIZABETHAN ENGLAND by Carole P. Roman showed and told a lot about Elizabethan Age, when Queen Elizabeth I ruled. The colorful illustrations show the difference between modern day times and Elizabethan England. That was when people were first willing to try new things. Explorers were not afraid to explore or try to discover new lands, and Queen Elizabeth I led England forward toward new progress.

If You Were Me and Lived in...Elizabethan England is a perfect book for homeschoolers, preschools, and or daycares!
If read aloud, it would sound like whoever is reading the book is talking directly to the listeners telling them how their life would be if they lived in this era. It reads smoothly and though the sentences tend to be a little long, it is overall very well written.

Another great learning book by Carole Roman.
And she tells you what it was like to live in Elizabethan England. It wasn't the best of living during that time. There really wasn't any bathing so people smelled bad (I think they had to use powder to cover the smell), and threw their waste and garbage in the streets making it smell bad. But the rich were rich and lived in large houses while the poor lived in small cramped places.
I'm glad that Carole has decided to write these kind of books since the ...more
