Captain No Beard stood on the deck of the Flying Dragon and watched his crew hard at work.
Another day on the Flying Dragon - everyone is doing what they do best...everyone except the Captain.

When Mondo the Monkey says not to sail, the Captain overrules.
Captain No Beard shook his head. "I don't believe so, Mongo...I think we're good to go."

This book is perfect for toddlers and children facing new challenges. It came to our family at the perfect time. The lesson was something my daughter had been struggling with and this really gave us tools to start working on her perspective. Another winner in the No Beard series.

One of the most valuable of lessons of life, what to do when you are wrong

The intrepid Captain No Beard and his brave crew are once again sailing the high seas on a great adventure. In this case they are on their way to Dew Rite Volcano. When Mongo announces a brewing storm and Linus points out that they are going in the wrong direction, the captain refuses to acknowledge the obvious. His position never changes in the face of mounting evidence, to the point where Zach is placed in grave danger.

In “Being a Captain is Hard Work” by Carole P. Roman, it was another great morning on the Captain No Beard ship. All of his crew were getting ready for the Captain’s call. Mongo is the first to say that they had dark clouds and rough winds. Captain No Beard did not agree with him. He continues to give orders and his journey until the end, not listening to the warnings of his crew. Until a gust of wind shucked the ship and everything was out of co

Facing the fact that you are wrong is hard to do. This wonderful children's book is Volume Ten in the Captain No Beard series. Ms. Roman tells how a good friend lets you know when you're wrong. This is a hard lesson to learn especially for young ones. The book is geared for pre-school to elementary school age children. It's even a fun read for the not so young readers, especially if you like pirate stories. The illustrations done by Bonnie Lemaire are colorful, exciting and attention getting. Th ...more

I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.

In Being a Captain is Hard Work, Captain No Beard tries his hardest to shoulder all of the responsibility of being a captain without asking for help from his crew. But him taking responsibility consists of more than just not asking for help, he neglects to listen to their helpful suggestions and even argues with the crew, confident that he knows best because he is captain.

A Captain No Beard story, BEING A CAPTAIN IS HARD WORK by Carole P. Roman is an amazing children's book about a great pirate story and a good crew that knows when Captain No Beard is in need of help. The author's skills of knowing what children love to read and look at are outstanding. Take for instance the cloud key in the back of the book, where the parents can help the children to look for different formations of clouds. If they happen to be out say, camping, hiking, boating, or just out for ...more

The Captain and his crew are headed for Dew Rite Volcano. They haven't gone far when things started to go very wrong. The Captain would not listen to his crew when they warned of storms and getting lost. Captain No Beard knew what he wanted to do and for awhile it was pretty scary. Will they go to the Volcano or head home?

This series is phenomenal! Each one has a lesson or two for the littles to learn. The illustrations are elegant and colorful. The writing is perfect for young kids. The chara

This is a really cute story of a group of kids and stuffed toys that imagine they are on a boat roaming the seas. Captain No Beard heads them all and plots a course to a volcano. He is told about the choppy seas, the angry looking clouds and the storm that's just about to hit. All he comes back with is that he knows it all better than the rest of the crew. Will Captain No Beard make it to the volcano? Will he learn a valuable lesson concerning his crew?

What an excellent story for children! There several lessons going on throughout the book, why you should always listen to good advice and other people’s opinion is a very important one! If you love to read along with your child, then you’ll love the vibrant colors and beautiful illustrations. There is also some cool information in there about the weather, different clouds and what they could mean. My daughter loved reading along with me and pointing out all of the different characters, what they ...more
