description

People have lived in this spot for over ten thousand years.
This was a fun foray into a new land!

We take a little peek into Scotland as part of Roman's around-the-world series.

This book talks about several of the major characteristics of Scotland - such as the origin of the kilt, their official animal (a unicorn), and (of course) all about Nessie.
You might like to take a trip to Loch Ness...best known for the creature people say lives in the deep water

Another great installment in this magnificently done series. What I loved most about this book was the thoughtful questions throughout. Really had my child thinking.

Ms. Roman has a wonderful way of introducing younger children and there parents to different countries and this book about Scotland is excellent.

We learn that Scotland occupies about a third of the island of Great Britain and is made up of more the 790 islands.

Since Edinburgh is the capital, many people live, work and go to the university there where they can learn about medicine, law, engineering and science.

Children call their mothers, Mathair and there fathers, Daddah. Some of the more com

One significant difference between this book and others in the series is that Scotland is not an independent country. Part of the United Kingdom, Scotland has retained a distinct culture and language and Roman gives the young person an excellent introduction to what Scotland is.
The reader learns about the city of Edinburgh, called “the Athens of the North.” Many of the buildings exhibit Greek and Roman architecture and it is home to a great university. Common names for boys and girls, the name

Since we are going to Scotland we might need to learn a bit about the country. Did you know Scotland is composed of seven hundred and ninety islands? They make up the northern third of Great Britain. They have a fun official animal. It's a unicorn. It stands for purity, grace, healing and happiness. We could play golf or go to the Highland Games. We might even make it to Loch Ness. Sounds like fun doesn't it? Let's go.

I learned as much reading this book as your child will. Information delivere

Here is a wonderful book about another country and this time it's one of my favorites. I like the way Carole teaches children about a specific country and this time it's Scotland. She tells us interesting facts that even I, as an adult, didn't even know. She infuses legends as well as facts onto each page and then adds a glossary at the end of the book so we can remember the words.

This is a great series for kids to learn about other kids in other countries.
