I have read and reviewed quite a few of Ms. Roman's books. She not only sends the wonderful little books but there sometimes there is a flag, a coin, a pencil and other items that she sends also. Children love these kind of things. When I finish reading and reviewing the books, I send them to my sister's grandson. He is just at that right age to learn about these wonderful places and their cultures. Ms. Roman always has an educational lesson to the books. The lesson however, is a fun part ...more

The modern child will face an environment where every populated location in the world will contain items of interest and people that are competing with them for jobs and resources. There are some that believe the solution is to become insular, adopting the position that the best thing to do is adopting an attitude of superiority over others and keeping them out. A fundamental component of this tactic is to avoid teaching young students about other people, cultures and languages.

It's off to sunny and lively Portugal! Perhaps we will be in time for Carnevale. We can enjoy food, music, parades and dancing. What fun! Portugal is an old country and there are many things to see and learn there. Are you excited? I am.
Ms. Roman taps into the most fun and most interesting things about each country. I know the child in your life will enjoy this series as much as I do. Easy to read, bright lovely illustrations and such fun. Get this series.

I think I would love to travel to Portugal. According to the book, it is located on the ocean, which I love, and right next to another country. Basically, Portugal was a trade route, one of course I heard about in college but did not remember until I read this book.
The views also mentioned in the book speak to me! It says they are a natural paradise. Of course reading the book will tell you what they are.
