A little girl, her friend and her mom have a conversation about what to do when she grows up.
"You can be anything you want to be, anywhere, place, or time."
Her mom lists everything her daughter could possibly do - from doctor to construction worker to baker - and yet, the little girl still has questions:
"I'd love to do all those things."To which, ...more
"Will I have to stop princessing?"

This book is perfect for young girls. I'd even say that it's great for boys. Everyone needs to forget the stereotypes so that young minds can think anything they want and become anyone they want. I love the conversation this book inspired with my daughter afterwards. She told me she was going to be a firefighter, ballerina, acrobat, chef, astronaut. Roman's books are food for the growing mind, really enriching them and supporting their growth.

Awesome! As a father of a young girl, it's important that you show them that no job or task is too hard or too far out of their reach! Bravo

Two young sisters are playing dress up as princesses. While admitting that gowns and tiaras are fun to wear, they begin to ask about other career possibilities. Their father assures them that they can be anything they want to be, and that it is certainly possible to pursue more than one career option or switch gears from one to another. I especially like some of the nontraditional choices for girls mentioned like being a cowpoke, a construction worker or a sculptor. Dad reminds them that they do

My two daughters and I enjoyed this short book. The rhyming works extremely well, which is a difficult task to accomplish. Kudos to the author for a well written rhyming story.
The pictures are cute and colorful. The story's focus is on the two little girls, so we don't actually see who they are speaking to in the book. The adult's legs are all that are shown, so there is a level of imagination and wonder.

“Can a Princess Be a Firefighter?” by Carole P. Roman, all started with two little girls who were curious to know if princesses could be firefighters. Their Dad explained to both girls all the possible occupations that he knew. The girls enjoyed and played all of them, making sure they would ask all questions about a doctor to a constructor, to a dancer and so on.

CAN A PRINCESS BE A FIREFIGHTER? by Carole P. Roman was a very skillfully and interestingly done children's book filled with careers of all kinds for which children can have fun discussing and making up their own minds about when they grow up. The possibilities are limitless. The illustrations by Marteya Arkova are wonderful for parents and inquisitive children to look at and talk about, and ask questions about too. Yes, and even a little princess can talk about what they want to be when they g ...more

This is a great book to give girls the confidence to be whatever they want to be. The proof is women can and are performing the same jobs as men... for less pay, but that's another issue.
Years ago we had a flood in our home and the fire department came. One of the firefighters was a woman wearing a 50-gallon tank on her back used to suck up and pump out the water out of our house. This involved countless trips up and down stairs for them to go outside and empty the water into the backyard. This ...more

All young girls are to a large extent princesses, they can imagine a lot and take themselves many places and do many things. The ability to imagine and act out is an important one, for it engages their minds and bodies in mental and physical growth. It is just as inevitable that they will also grow up and enter the world of adulthood and be forced into seeking gainful employment. The question then becomes, what career paths can a grown princess enter? The answer is just about any career is open

This adorable little book is another winner for author, Carole P. Roman. A departure from her series books, the author takes on questions proposed to Daddy by two little girls...aka her granddaughters.
The girls are clearly princesses and the apple of "Daddy's" eye. However, they want to know if they can be something else and still maintain their princess status. Of course they can!
With short sentences and colorful pastel colors, the reader is whisked away in thoughtfulness of what they could pos ...more

What a sweet read. This is an excellent book for anyone to read to their little princess. It encourages little girls to dream of being anything they want to be - be it firefighter, doctor, mayor, or anything else they desire. They can even continue being a princess and have an awesome career. I feel that it's an important read because it introduces children at a young age to all the wonderful possibilities that are out there. It also teaches little girls to not feel limited in their career choic

This is a cute little book about what a girl can be when she grows up.
Girls dream about being princesses but also about being whatever they want to be--a firefight, police officer, a doctor, dentist. The world is hers.
I love the illustrations and how Carole rhymes everything. This is a sweet little story that all girls will enjoy.

Can a Princess be a Firefighter? is a sweet book that encourages children to dream big and to never limit their imaginations. It is written with rhythmic rhyming words in 2nd person; which I found to be very fascinating; and has a wide range of careers to choose from.
