I tried Anne Rice out of curiosity, and I wasn't sure I would actually enjoy her stuff, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The writing is interesting, flowery but not too flowery, the characters are unique and compelling, and she's not afraid to go into territory that I think people these days might find too problematic or icky. I thought it was a wonderful read, full of complexity and terrible people, and it left me very curious to continue reading the series ...more
