I read this back in my teens. It scared the hell out of me and has haunted me ever since. It was wonderfully written but totally scarred me. In a good way, but still, I won't read it again.

Everyone told me this book was weird. I had no idea that the weirdness would start by page 10 and that it would turn downright disturbing by the end. I think that was the point of the book. But that doesn't mean it was my cup of tea.

Another 'read it in school' book. I remember thinking how it was such a good refutation of the whole noble savage theory, and wondering who the 'grown up' for grown ups was.
