Ei ehkä mun pala kakkua mutta kolme tähteä kuitenkin koska kerronta oli selkeää ja taitavaa, joskus tämän tyylisissä kirjoissa on niin paljon kaikkea ihmeellistä joka vaikuttaa sekavalta että on vaikea seurata tarinan kulkua mutta tässä sitä oli jokseenkin helppo seurata ja kerronta oli myös kaunista. Toisaalta tarina oli kyllä lievästi sanottuna ainakin paikoitellen kovin tylsää ja ajatukset lähtivät kulkemaan muita latuja. Ihan ok lukukokemuksena vaikka ei mitään maata mullistavaa itselle. This was a good read. Despite the fact its an old-school fantasy, I found it very readable with vivid imagery. The ending was rather anti-climactic though.

I bought a volume of the first four books, so I shall give the second book a go too.

I'm really sad I never read this earlier! A wonderful coming of age fantasy story that doesn't fall into the normal trappings/cliches of sword and sorcery fantasy. While the book was meant for younger audiences than myself, I still found it worth reading and being able to reflect back on my own life and the mistakes I made when I was younger.

I enjoyed the sort of mythic storytelling of the book, rather than the standard narrative style that fantasy books take. I feel that it helps highlight the ...more
