I think I expected this novel to be something completely different. This is a widely beloved story so I was up for something that was pure fun. What I was not expecting was the mixture of voices in this novel that are just...mean. True, there was a lot of adventure and there's a fun story structure in there. The story of Wesley and Buttercup was good. The rest of it was garbage and completely undid the good in the actual story. I love the movie and was so saddened by how much I hated this book. I only finished it because it was a book club pick and later, I came to find out, the other members gave up because they hated it so much.

It was witty and entertaining. I think I might've been distracted while listening to the audiobook, though, and only random scenes really stuck with me.
