Cry Wolf is the first novel in a new series, called Alpha and Omega, by popular fantasy author Patricia Briggs. This series starts with the novella “Alpha and Omega” from the anthology On the Prowl. I'd read the anthology first, I didn't and I was sort of lost at the beginning of Cry Wolf. I immediately went back and read the short story which helped a lot!
The Alpha and Omega series is a spin off from the Mercy Thompson urban fantasy novels and follows the story of Anna Latham, an Omega and her Cry Wolf is the first novel in a new series, called Alpha and Omega, by popular fantasy author Patricia Briggs. The Alpha and Omega series is a spin off from the Mercy Thompson urban fantasy novels and follows the story of Anna Latham, an Omega and her mate Charles Cornick, who is an Alpha. Cry Wolf is written in third person mostly from the perspective of Anna. Anna has only been a werewolf for three years. Until that night she was violently attacked by one she had never known they even existed. She was always at the bottom of the pack, used and abused until Charles came into her life. When Charles meet Anna, he instantly knows that she's his mate. It's not as easy for him to get close to Anna with her past of abusive Alpha's, so they have to tread carefully to make Anna feel safe and protected.

In Cry wolf Bran(the Marrok) gets Charles and Anna to investigate a werewolf who has possibly gone “rogue.” The latest attacks are near the Marrok’s own territory in Aspen Creek. What they both don't know is that it's not just any rogue werewolf, it's a creature bound in magic so black and evil and that's not just hunting humans but the pack itself.
While the overall story is somewhat dark, it is also very romantic and fun to read. I couldn't wait to see what happened next with Anna and Charles. It's as addictive as Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series.
