Have I really never reviewed this? Cripes. Well, I think Charlotte Bronte's assessment is fair, but it misses the wit and the diverting antics of the minor characters, the fun of detesting Wickham and Mr Collins. Austen could as well have written a snippy review on the Brontes, deploring their humourless ranty plodding. Which would also have missed the point. ...more
