I know the “stupidity and madness of war” has been done before. It’s just nice to see someone get it so right.
I would say, I did get a little tired of the endless scenes of CIA guys having late cocktail lunches, and the endless scenes of enlisted men behaving badly on leave. Johnson mostly wrote shorter books, so I think he wasn’t aware he was running some stuff into the ground.
