Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Esslemont is not writing in imitation of Erikson but as counterpoint. I enjoy his style and that s less burdened by the weight of the uber-narrative that sometimes seems to slow down Erikson. Loved the glimpse of Nok. Another Mael aspect perhaps?

Not as wonderful as Return of the Crimson Guard, but a solid installment in the series.
