I'm definitely gonna rate this book as a 5 stars one. I enjoyed every bit of it but I can see why people are pretty much annoyed by it. The reason is simple - reader is thrown into the story and there is no pampering or handholding through it. From the beginning you have no idea whats happening but as the story reveals one can see an epic work behind it.

awesomeness, starting preparatory phase (maps + dramatis personae + glossary check) tomorrow on Deadhouse Gates :)))
It was hard to get into the first book but the second half gets better. The rest of the series is epic and one of my favorites. Highly recommended for fantasy lovers!
A huge world, great characters, great stories that all weave together.
I'm stalled about 60 pages into this book. Not sure when I'll pick it up again, but it came across as a poor George RR Martin copy, with lots of complicated terms, a lot of bloodshed and not much readability. It's still in the house so I hope I'll get to finish it soon.
